Cloud Operations Engineer

Charles Simon Associates are currently looking for a Cloud Ops Engineer on a permanent basis for a fast growing UK wide business based in Manchester

Location: Manchester

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum

Skills/Requirements for the Cloud Ops Engineer:

  • Previous experience in a similar role is vital for this position
  • Strong skills with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch or New Relic
  • Experience of working with cloud architecture to a high level
  • Strong Cloud services, this can be with Azure and/or AWS
  • Experience of working with Drupal and/or Laravel

Desirable skills:

  • Jenkins
  • Python

Start date is ASAP for the Cloud Ops Engineer

The Cloud Ops Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that the Infrastructure Manager and other senior members of the IT business are kept informed of progress and are told of major problems and / or issues in a timely manner
  • Working closely with our developers to deploy new and existing applications (based primarily on Drupal, Laravel and Python) across multiple environments
  • Spinning up AWS EC2 instances through IAC with Terraform, perform configuration management using Ansible
  • Using tools such as CloudWatch, New Relic and the AWS Console to actively monitor deployments
  • Demonstrating an understanding of our broader AWS networking infrastructure: load-balancing, firewalling and network segmentation and be able to perform basic troubleshooting
  • Performing ad-hoc Linux administration as necessary
  • Maintaining technical documentation
